Relatively Minor
Laughter does not have to come from a major source. It could indeed be ... relatively minor.
Residents of Winterset eagerly anticipate their annual celebrations, notably the Festival of Lights parade held the day after Thanksgiving. After a hearty meal featuring turkey, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie, one might expect everyone to settle in for a long winter’s nap. However, filled with energy and excitement, the townspeople come together to participate in the event.
As night falls, the downtown square comes alive with vibrant colors, showcasing creative floats from local businesses. Families gather to celebrate, filling the air with laughter, music, and the enticing smell of holiday treats. Everyone awaits when Santa flips the switch to light up the historic courthouse, marking the official beginning of the festive season.
Little did Santa know that the mischievous Grinch had already snuck into the parade lineup, driving his unmistakably green car and setting out to dampen the Christmas spirit.
Santa and the Grinch awkwardly shared the same parade, which was already a recipe for disaster. To make matters even more chaotic, a herd of vividly colored adult chickens decided it was their moment to shine, strutting down the street as if they owned the place. It was like a rainbow had exploded in poultry form, with the chickens flaunting their oversized feathers and playfully taunting the crowd.
Meanwhile, Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer, trailed the flock of birds that had flown the coop. Unfortunately, he wasn’t leading Santa’s sleigh as usual; his hooves got stuck when a snowplow inadvertently scooped him up. His glowing red nose continued to light the way despite the predicament.
As this year’s festival ended, everyone had a wonderful time celebrating. In the event’s final moments, the Grinch’s heart unexpectedly grew three sizes when Santa turned on the lights, filling the scene with a warm and festive glow.
